Ministry Council
As we prepare to say "good-bye" to Karl and Kendra Fay, we thank them for their ministry among us this past year. Please plan to attend a farewell open house at the Ahlschwede residence the evening of August 10th.
We also thank our St. Lorenz Foundation for its continued support of this program that is such an important part of the training for future pastors in the church. To date, all expenses associated with the vicarage program have been covered by our Foundation. Without that support, it would be extremely doubtful that we could have continued our involvement, which is now going into its fifth year.
We look forward to welcoming John and Niccy Walla, who will be arriving around August 13th.
One of the components of the parking lot project this summer will be to replace some of our existing sidewalks. Included in the original plans for the new sidewalks was to be a snow-melt system of pipes buried in the cement.
"With a budget as large as St. Lorenz has, what possible difference can my offering make?"
"Can’t we have the St. Lorenz Foundation pay most of our expenses?"
"It seems as if St. Lorenz is always ‘running in the red’ with our Operating Fund. Why is it, then, that we always seem to have money for ‘luxury’ items like electronic sign boards, new buildings in the Churchgrove and video monitors in the church?"
“Who determines how Operating Fund monies are spent?”
- Personnel Costs
- Utilities and Insurance
- Program Expenses
- Offering envelope
- School income
- Special gifts
- Operating Fund
- Mission Fund
- Capital Improvements
- Church Parking Lot
Of the 300 votes cast in last weekend’s referendum, 265 of them (88%) were in favor of proceeding with the proposed parking lot re-surfacing.

During the 2007-08 school year, we emphasized the Ministry Council’s first of four Ministry Outcomes, which is “Bringing People to Christ.” Beginning in September, we will focus on the second outcome: “Worshiping the Savior.” Ministry Council is working with the Commission on Spiritual Life and Worship to identify goals, strategies, and activities for this emphasis.
