This weekend has a joyous occasion occurring at St. Lorenz. In the 9:30 am service, five women are being commissioned into a special ministry of care and concern for others as Stephen Ministers. This rite of commissioning culminates a long period of training and preparation for caring ministry developed and administered by Stephen Ministers of St. Louis, MO. Our Stephen Ministers have learned extensively in such areas as dealing with feelings, crisis intervention, asserting oneself with gentleness and firmness, and numerous other topics dealing with specific aspects of helping people who are experiencing problems in their lives. Following the commissioning, these Stephen Ministers will carry on a caring ministry in our congregation and community. They will be working with people who are experiencing life crises such as: hospitalization, retirement, severe financial setback, loss of a loved one, as well as many other problems that people have in living their daily lives.
The Stephen Ministers commissioned at the 9:30 am service are: Deanne Jekel, Janet Keinath, Lisa Krenz, Kathryn Nuechterlein, and Sandra Rummel.
