School Announcements

Music at St. Lorenz is proud to announce our new season for 2012/2013. Please join us for our opening concert on Sunday, October 14 at 4:00 pm when we welcome Dr. John Behnke from Concordia University - Wisconsin to lead us in a festival of great hymns of faith.

Dr. Behnke will be joined by the Mixed Choir of St. Lorenz along with the Sr. Choir from Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Saginaw. Our Parish Handbell Choir along with brass and percussion will also lend their talents to what should be an exciting afternoon of praise!

You are invited to come and lend your voice to the mass choir that will be singing for the Patriotic Praise service on Sunday, July 4. Rehearsals will be held on Tuesday, June 29 at 7:00 pm in the church music room and on Thursday, July 1 at 7:00 pm in the music room of the church. We will be singing “The Battle Hymn of the Republic”, “Hymn for America” and other great pieces of American music. Once again St.Lorenz will celebrate the festival of the Ascension of Our Lord with a Choral Vespers service on Thursday, May 13 at 7:00 pm.

Featured works will include "Christ lag in Todes Banden"of J.S. Bach, "O Clap Your Hands" by Ralph Vaughan Williams, and "Abide With Me" by Richard Webster. The choirs of St. Lorenz will be joined by the Flint Mastersingers, and guest conductor Dr. Christopher Cock from Valparaiso University.

We are seeking donors to help underwrite the expenses for two of our students at St. Lorenz to attend the Lutheran Summer Music Academy and Festival this coming summer. As a participant in this program our student will spend a month in intensive classes and rehearsals growing and developing their knowledge and skills, studying with nationally acclaimed educators and musicians. If you wish to make a donation, please make a check payable to St. Lorenz with the designation of LSM on the memo line. All Are Invited – St. Lorenz Lutheran Church is inviting all singers to join the St. Lorenz Carol Choir in singing for the Frankenmuth Town Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 27 at 6:30 pm.  Bring your family and friends there  is no experience needed, and we will welcome any and all singers! The choir will meet in the music room at St. Lorenz Church (lower level) at 5:30 pm to rehearse the familiar carols and hymns of the season. We will then travel by bus to River Place for the 6:30 pm ceremony. This is a great opportunity to lend your voices in this most unique community celebration – all are welcome!
