Star of the Week
During this week, your child gets to shine. On the first day of the assigned week the "star" will bring in a display (i.e. poster) that describes him/her. Please help your child make the posterboard. The posterboard should include pictures of family members, things that your child loves, and cute baby pictures. The display will be placed in the classroom for the week. During the week, the "star" will invite a special person or persons to come and tell the class about the kindergartner. The guest is invited to come on any day of the assigned week at 8:00. (I would ask not on Wednesday when we have all school chapel.) Just let me know ahead of time what day will work for you. The presentation and the display will be based on the categories on the back of the note. You might want to fill in the stars to help with the presentation. Please practice at home by reading the category title and having your child tell the written part. After this, your child will explain the pictures. The presentation will be about 10 minutes long with 10 minutes afterward for questions. The purpose of this activity is to help each child develop a positive self-concept and to help the children look for positive characteristics in each other.
